Borii Parai "Songlines Country"

This earthy and vibrant artwork depicts journey trails, made across our country by Aboriginal people. Lines flowing both horizontally and vertically hold a twofold meaning, highlighting the many well-known song lines, journey trails and trade routes taken by Aboriginal people over generations, and also a tapestry portraying intermingling relationships as we travel through Iife together.

Corroboree

This artwork tells the story of my Clan and the unbreakable spiritual tie that links us together across time and generations, connecting us as one proud people.

It depicts our corroboree, as we gather together in song, dance, storytelling and celebration with family.

Generations

This artwork portrays Aboriginal people past, present and future. Representing the family clan group, connection, relationships, belonging and identity within the family structure. Aboriginal kinship and family structures are cohesive forces which bind Aboriginal people together across the generations.

Kaling "Water"

The unique turquoise in this artwork depicts Kaling, meaning "water" and relating to our majestic waterways. Depicting wetlands, rivers, reefs and our Island home. Waves flowing down each side reflect our coastline, while the intricate design across the centre shows the many forms our waters take across country.

Kamari "Northward"

Depicting our seascapes, mountains and blue skies, reflecting the warm and sunny weather to be found to our north while the blues within the work is representative of the East Coast of Australia and the many waterways running into the ocean.

Koyiyoong "Campsite"

Koyiyoong depicts the journey trails, trade routes and resting places crisscrossing our great country. Used by Aboriginal people from generation to generation, the knowledge of pathways and campsite locations is passed down.

Malang "Together Generations"

This artwork portrays Aboriginal people past, present and future. Representing the family clan group, connection, relationships, belonging and identity within the family structure. Aboriginal kinship and family structures are cohesive forces which bind Aboriginal people together Malang, across the generations.

Middens

This painting represents midden mounds, found around waterways all across Australia. The middens are immense mounds of oyster, pipi and mussel shells left over many years by Aboriginal people feasting close to waterways.

Ngeyran

The closed linking circles within this artwork are depictive of individuals and groups from differing backgrounds connecting over a shared vision. The transition from dark purple through to pale and dark blue, and into deep green, refers to saltwater people.

Pantimay

The warm earthy tones of this artwork represents Country, while the engraved etchings interwoven throughout the work is reflective of many of our local sites, depicting artworks or messages engraved into sandstone. The unbroken line of circles moving across the work depict links and sharing of knowledge and messages between neighbouring clan groups.

Puruma "Lift Up"

This painting is about the strength and unity found within family clan groups and the value placed on extended family within our culture. Set upon a backdrop of meeting circles, relating to past, present and future generations continuing to pass on cultural knowledge and lift up our culture as we share with others.

Witma "Building"

This work is about cultural knowledge, strength and building upon this from the present through to the future generations. The layer upon layer of irregular shapes speaks of increased ability, and the continual growth of each new generation, as they stand on the platform of knowledge, understanding and wisdom.

Witma Generations

This work is about cultural knowledge, strength and building upon this from the present through to the future generations. The layer upon layer of irregular shaped images speaks of increased ability, and the continual growth of each new generation, as they stand on the platform of knowledge, understanding and wisdom passed on by previous generations, when the baton is past well and with core emphasis on respect for each other and country.

Witma Yapung "Building Pathways"

This work is about building pathways leading to opportunities for future generations through education, the sharing of cultural knowledge, the passing on of wisdom and respectful relationships. Colours are a reflection of Country and the many waterways.

The stepping stones move upward upon the design reflective of our journey forward and the passing on of knowledge from Elders down through the generations

The flowing movement of lines across the design captures the journey across eternity, from past, present and onto future generations, with an emphasis on the influence and values we pass onto our youth.
